NeuRA (Neuroscience Research Australia)

Kim van Schooten is an Associate Professor at UNSW Medicine and Senior Research Fellow at Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA). Her research focuses on understanding how real-world motor control, balance recovery, and mobility patterns influence fall and injury risk as people age. She is internationally recognised for her work using wearable and digital technologies to measure everyday gait and movement, translating these insights into clinically meaningful outcomes and scalable digital health solutions.

Kim has led multiple large trials and cohort studies, publishes widely in ageing and mobility research, and serves in national and international leadership roles shaping policy and research directions in healthy ageing and digital health. Her work bridges neuroscience, biomechanics, and technology to support safer mobility and independence across the lifespan.
