Gary Rake

Gary Rake is the Deputy Commissioner of the Regulatory Operations Division at the Commission. Prior to this, he was CEO of the Australian Building Codes Board. An economist and accountant, Gary brings broad regulatory and leadership experience, having held senior roles across the Commonwealth, ACT and NSW Governments focussed service, regulation and consumer protection. He was drawn to the Commission’s rights-based approach and its positive impact on the lives of older Australians. Based in Canberra, in his spare time, he volunteers as a surf life saver on the south coast of NSW and is a board member for community organisations.
