Hilary O’Connell is Principal Advisor for Healthy Ageing and Reablement at iLA and an occupational therapist with over 40 years of experience across disability, aged care, and community sectors.
For the past two decades, she has pioneered innovations in preventative and reablement-focused service models, including establishing Australia’s first home care reablement service.
Hilary has co-authored the influential book Reablement in Long-Term Care for Older People and published peer-reviewed papers on reablement and falls prevention.

Hilary spearheaded the creation of iLA’s digital platforms, LiveUp and Keep Able, which help older adults and service providers to enhance independence, dignity, and quality of life. Her work reflects a deep commitment to enabling people to live lives they value—a principle she champions as a fundamental human right.
