Dementia Doula & Founder
Tamara Henwood Consulting

Tamara Henwood is a speaker, consultant, and dementia doula working at the intersection of lived experience and system change.

Her work is grounded in professional experience within the aged care sector, where she witnessed the gap between the language of person-centred care and the reality of service delivery. Faced with those same systems while supporting her mother through progressive cognitive decline, she became determined to challenge the norm and advocate for approaches that genuinely protect agency, identity, and dignity.

Tamara works with families, carers, and organisations to move beyond deficit-based thinking and into care that is practical, relational, and grounded in real life. She is known for asking better questions of systems—particularly where risk, compliance, and low expectations quietly erode a person’s sense of self.

She believes that changing cognition is not the end of possibility—but it does require us to think differently, act differently, and expect more from care.
